Immigrant In My Own Country (Living in Havana, my experience)

When I was living in Cuba, I lived in many places thanks to my parents' career. I met a lot of people, good and bad. Visited beautiful places and enjoyed of the amazing nature of the country.

Old buildings, old cars... stuff that I like.

When I was 14 I moved to Havana, I was previously living in Holguin.

Havana has very interesting places to go, but people can be really cruel to you if you're from outside  Havana. They actually think Havana is the only "civilized" province in Cuba, and the rest is just countryside. (Oh, how wrong they are!)  My new name was "The Palestinian". Like, what the heck?
But that's not the only bad thing, they make fun of your accent! YEAH! We have different accents in Cuba too.
When I was studying as a bookkeeper I had to spend time in libraries inside what's called 'Ciudad Libertad', even kids would ask me "which country I was from".

What's even worse, when I needed to get my adult's ID they gave me a temporal one. You know what's funny? You could even get deported, in your OWN COUNTRY!

Here are some articles (in Spanish) about this problem if you would like to read them: Here, here and here. (You can download a translator add-on for your browser)

It's ridiculous, I know, but that's a struggle many Cubans are living. Here's to hope someday it will be fixed.
